The first edition had a K-12 emphasis; the second edition has an emphasis on grades 3 through 8. All the activities and examples in the second edition are geared towards the elementary and middle school levels. A correlation/alignment of the activities and the case studies to the national science standards was added. Discussion questions were added at the end of the chapter. Resource A, “Resources for Teachers” has been updated and includes new resources.
