This is an accessible read which aims to translate the mammoth task of successfully achieving a Doctorate into practical steps by offering succinct advice and illustrating workable strategies. UK readers need to be mindful that this is written from a US perspective; however this is somewhat helpful as it enables an opportunity for contrast and comparison.

This fills a lot of the research gaps, for example, the differences between a conceptual framework and a theoretical framework.

This book is a great book especially for the graduate or post graduate level, but this is a little too advanced for level 5 /4 although it will be useful for lecturers teaching.

We felt that there were many useful aspect to this book, particularly in approaches to structuring the dissertation. However, with it being written from a US perspective some of the information could be misleading for those undertaking a PhD in the UK.
