The first edition had a K-12 emphasis; the second edition has an emphasis on grades 3 through 8. All the activities and examples in the second edition are geared towards the elementary and middle school levels. A correlation/alignment of the activities and the case studies to the national science standards was added. Discussion questions were added at the end of the chapter.
